Quite possibly my new holy grail moisturiser!5 5Friday, March 24, 2017 - 20:47
I really love this emulsion. I have Rosacea and my skin is so sensitive, I struggle to find products that I don't react to. One step wrong and I get contact dermatitis that takes weeks to heal, so I'm really careful with ingredients. I also have very oily skin, so the consistency of this product is perfect for me. I used their skin recovery cream for the past four years as my moisturiser and it was brilliant, but something in it added to my oiliness. I switched to the tolerance extreme emulsion a week ago. It is like silk when it goes on and it calms my redness too. It is not at all greasy, which I love and my skin is hydrated but not smothered (like the recovery cream can do). I use the extreme cleanser too and it gently removes my mineral make up. I'm an avene customer for life.

Tolerance Extreme Cream Ingredients ChangesSunday, March 5, 2017 - 10:15
I used the discontinued version of the Tolerance Extreme Cream for many years. It was the only product I could find that my skin would tolerate. The two products that have replaced it are the new Tolerance Extreme Cream and the Tolerance Extreme Emulsion. They both contain ingredients which irritate my skin. I suspect it is the Behenyl Alcohol that has been added to these new products but I can't be sure. Please could you bring back the discontinued Tolerance Extreme Cream product, even if under a new name or new category, so that people like me who have relied on the discontinued version of the Tolerance Extreme Cream for many years can reduce the stress of irritated skin from our daily lives. I have seen a similar request from other loyal customers of yours, Helena and J, under the comments for the new the Tolerance Extreme Cream. I am sure there are many others out there who are also suffering following the ingredients changes.
Eau Thermale Avène answered this commentAt Eau Thermale Avène, we are very careful when selecting ingredients for use in our products. Behenyl alcohol belongs to a class of saturated fatty alcohols, a different class to "alcohols that are harsh on the skin", otherwise known as "Ethyl alcohol". Saturated fatty alcohols are better tolerated by the skin and have emollient, moisturizing and softening properties. To guarantee maximum tolerance on sensitive skin, our Tolérance Extrême products contain less than 5% Behenyl alcohol.
Our Tolérance Extrême range has been formulated and tested for sensitive to hypersensitive skin by a panel of 1,200 women. The products have demonstrated very good results in terms of tolerance. However, it is always possible that this type of phenomenon can occur, particularly in very sensitive skin types.
If you are looking for a product that will protect your skin from everyday irritations, our Skin Recovery Cream may be more appropriate. This cream contains a special active, called Parcerine, that helps to reduces irritations and soothe the skin.
